Chamomile tea can do wonders in calming the nerves and dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. Having a cup of hot chamomile tea can calm your system down, since some of its compounds bind some of the brain receptors, same as what Valium does.
Green tea is no different because it contains L-theanine, which is an amino acid that helps in reducing anxiety. Studies even show that subjects who have taken 200mg of L-Theanin are more calm and focused when taking exams. However, it will take you five to twenty cups just to get such an amount of the substance. Regardless, even a cup of green tea can still do the job of soothing the nerves.
