If you're experiencing allergic reactions after applying hair dye, wash remaining residue with a clarifying shampoo. If you don't have one at home, you can opt for the strongest shampoo solution you have. After doing so, take a dosage of antihistamine, which can be purchased at any drugstore, to block the allergic reaction. To deal with the itch and reduce inflammation, you can also apply cortisone cream on the affected area.

If you're planning to do another home hair dye application, it's better if you do a skin patch test first before proceeding. Just apply a small amount of the dye on the skin behind the ears or on your inner arm and rinse. If there are no allergic reactions after 24 hours, it's safe to proceed to the application process.
