The loss of blood during menstruation may lead to iron deficiency. To prevent depletion of this essential mineral and suffering the possible consequences, it’s important for women on their period to drink and eat substantial amount of citrus fruits. This is to improve absorption of iron into the body. Dried apricots can do the same job as well, since they rich in iron. So do shellfish, legumes, cereals, and liver.
If fruits aren’t available and you prefer meat over greens, red meat can also be consumed as it is loaded with iron and zinc, which can also be depleted during period.
