Gently rub the cramped muscle and stretch it regularly to relax. If you are unable to stretch your limbs standing, you can sit down in the floor and extend your limbs. Take a warm cloth and massage the affected area. Instead, you can also use heating pad. Take warm bath twice a day for relaxing the muscles.

Minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium are highly effective in treating muscle cramps. Eat food items rich in these minerals for immediate relief from pain. Some food sources that can be taken are cereals, beans and nuts. Eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more milk.
