How to relieve period cramps

Contraction of the uterus causes period cramps. To relax the muscles and ease the pain, you can apply warm compress on the uterus area. If you don’t have a reusable electric heating pad around, you can make your own hot compress by filling a plastic bottle with hot water.
Increasing your calcium intake can also reduce the pain from menstrual cramps when you’re on your period. It’s recommended to take 1000mg of calcium per day, especially for women between 19 – 50 years old. This can be found in food sources such as almonds, dairy products, sesame seeds, and even green vegetables.
