How to prevent pressure ulcers

Bed sores or pressure ulcers can be uncomfortable and painful. If there are already pressure sores on your back or other parts of the body, avoid slipping, slumping, sliding, or keeping your body in a position that applies direct pressure on the area. If you’re on a recliner chair or lying on the bed, make sure that it’s not raised to an angle that’s more than 30 degrees, to avoid slipping. It’s also important to make sure that the body is repositioned every twenty minutes or so, to lessen the chances of developing new pressure ulcers and to prevent aggravating existing ones.
