Sprain is an indicator of overstretched or torn muscles, and often injures the ligaments connecting the joint to the bones. Although sprain injuries may range from mild to severe, there are home remedies that can help ease sprain symptoms.
Application of ice or cold compress helps reduce inflammation, swelling, and even the pain. However, it should be applied at most 48 hours after sustaining the injury, to prevent bleeding and inflammation of the torn ligaments. If ice is not available, a pack of frozen vegetables can also be used. Compression by using bandages or elastics, can also help reduce pain and avoid sustaining further injury.
