Remove food between the teeth
Hazel 2014-12-16
If you're experiencing pain because of tooth decay, one of the first things that you need to do is remove trapped food between the teeth using a dental floss or by brushing your teeth. Rinse your mouth by swishing warm water around the mouth to loosen remaining lodged food particles.
You can also use an ice cube wrapped in a thin cloth and apply as a cold compress on the pained area. Do this for ten to fifteen minutes to reduce the pain. It will also be helpful to gargle salt water to draw out excess moisture on the inflamed gums that surround the pained tooth. Just add one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water, and rinse the solution in your mouth for half a minute before spitting out. You can do this as frequently as needed, to lessen the pain caused by tooth decay.
