Dry socket after tooth extraction is, by the rule, very painful condition. For faster recovery one should use clove oil applied with a cotton swab on the socket. Saline water is a simple solution that improves the oral hygiene and minimizes the chances of complications or infection. Smoking, coffee and alcohol should be avoided by no means. Ice packs can be applied on the cheek at the extracted side of jaw to ease the pain. It’s a good practice to envelop the pack with some rag or tissue. Hydrogen peroxide is a good oxidizing agent that reacts and ties the surrounding dead tissue (be sure to use only 2-3% solution).
